Thornwick & Sea Farm – 2012 Site Fees

We have reviewed the site fees for the coming season, which regrettably must be increased by £100, to be either £2275.00 or £2340.00 depending on your original tariff. The increase on the actual site fees is a little over £40.00 – the remainder is mainly due to the additional VAT.

HM Revenue and Customs have now ruled that, effective from 1st of January 2012, VAT at 20% must be levied on the recharge for water and rates. Previously these were either zero rated or outside of the scope of VAT, but despite intense lobbying at Parliament by our trade association, the Government is unable, under EU Law, to allow this concession to continue. Again we strongly advise you to have your gas system inspected by a Gas Safe/ Corgi qualified technician every year but this is legally compulsory if you allow anyone else to use your caravan, which includes friends or relations. We must have a valid copy of your Gas Safety Certificate at Reception before we pass out any keys. This is so serious that if you sublet without a certificate, we will immediately disconnect the services.

We can keep the electric meter cards at the same price for the next year, and hopefully gas as well although this is a much more volatile commodity and could well increase at some point. 

If you have a dog, please ensure that you “poop scoop” and keep it under control. We have had some complaints from people bothered by dogs either running loose or barking whilst left alone in the caravan.
